Mac won't start up

Hi all,

ive ran into some problems with my 2012 MacBook Pro. I came in from work a couple of days ago and the mac will no longer turn on. The charging light on the MagSafe is showing green but nothing will boot up.

I have disconnected the battery from the motherboard and tried an SMC reset but nothing has worked.

I decided to give it another shot today and the MagSafe turned Amber for about 30 minutes then turned to green, and the Mac started for about ten seconds and cut out again.

I moved from the uk to Australia last year and I have been using a uk-Australia conversion adapter with my charging unit - it turns out that this adapter was faulty. Could this have killed the battery?

If anyone has any ideas before I take it into apple that would be appreciated!
