Why does my iPad connect and disconnect continuously when I plug it into my laptop?

I've never had this trouble before with any of my other Apple devices such as iPod Touch 4th Gen and iPhone 4s but my iPad 2 is annoying the **** out of me. Whenever I plug it into my laptop, no matter what USB port, it connects and disconnects continuously and it keeps making my iTunes open a bunch of times. I need help please!

iPad 2, iOS 8.2, 2 years old

If your iPad is unable to sustain a connection to your computer via the USB cord, then I'd like you to please follow the troubleshooting in the article below.
