Q: can a PC send signal to a 2010 iMac so iMac can display? Using minidisplayport to displayport cable.

I want to use a 2010 iMac as a display for a PC. I would be connecting a mini-displayport cable at the iMac, with a displayport cable end at the PC. Will this work? Could it harm either computer?
