Mac Mini inputs

Hello,

Is there any chance that the MAC mini HDMI port could work as input?

With my company we're trying to build a portable unit to stream broadcast video: ideally the mac mini should receive the video input and transmit through a software like Wirecast that we would install for the purpose.

For that an HDMI as input would be ideal - if not is the thunderbolt capable of streaming like the old firewire could?

Many Thanks to anyone who can help!

No. The HDMI port doesn't support video-in, and the Thunderbolt port only does so on some iMacs.

So if the camera feed is converted through another unit (in this case a Blackmagic) the feed can be taken by the MacMini through its Thunderbolt or USB3 port to be then streamed with a software installed on it?

To clarify the path would be: Camera SDI output -> Blackmagic to convert -> USB3 to MacMini to stream

A Blackmagic technician on their forum thinks its possible with the Blackmagic US Pro as long as the MacMini recognise it.

Can all this be correct?

Thanks!
