10 digit error code for sending SMS

If you are getting the error: "+1 (1) (216) 116-11 Error Invalid Number. Please re-send using a valid 10-digit mobile number or valid short code" when trying to send a text, here's how you fix it.

First erase ALL texts to and from that person on your device, including the error codes you received in response.

Second erase ALL call history from the device.

Third erase the person as a contact from your device (write the number down first), including the favorites section.

By now you shouldn't have ANY communication in your phone left with this person.

Now, you will send a text message to the NUMBER as a new message. You should no longer get the error back, once you have successfully sent a message you can now click the "i" in the blue circle in the upper right corner and create a new contact so they are saved again.

You should not have to power cycle the device before sending the message.

If, by very small chance, you still get the error. Erase the new messages you have tried sending and the error code received. Then go to settings>general>reset>reset network settings.

Your issue should now be resolved 🙂

I spent HOURS trying to figure this out, and I think I have the answer.

The person you sent a text message to has i Message on and their phone is using a WIFI signal and not the phone service to send the text message.

Settings, i Message (on) Send as SMS (on).

When they are not in a WIFI area OR they have i Message turned off, the phone uses their phone service to send a text message and receive a text message so you do not get the error message.

Person A sends a text message to person B.

Person A is using the a WIFI signal (ie i Message on SMS on not phone service) to send the text. Person B receives it.

Person B tries to send a reply and gets the message +1 (1) (216) 116-11 error invalid number please resend using a valid 10 digit number.

Your phone is trying to send a message using YOUR phone service but THEIR phone service is not on, their phone is using a WIFI signal, therefore cannot receive the message.

If you want to use your phone service to send a text message and receive a text message and not use a WIFI signal to send a text message or receive a text message then turn off the i Message. I message ONLY uses a WIFI signal
