Q: Nektar Panorama P6

Another update...  The newest implementation of the Nektar Panorama continues to be amazing!  Not only is it completely interactive with MS3, it is remarkably stable AND they are making improvements (just got one yesterday) in response to users requests/concerns.  I've owned a lot of gear over the years and I'm not Nektar endorsed, but I've never had a company work at the level of this group.  If you want the best, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Hey - Has anyone had problems with the fader on this one? I have Yosemite on OS and Bigwig, but when I try to use the fader it is bumby and there is some resistance, like there is a problem with the sensor or something. At times, it'll even keep flashing the volume when not in use. Thanks

I could never get the motorized fader to work right and gave up on it pretty quickly.

Seemed to be really picky about the Hardware Input Type and Number. Input gets all flaky if you don't have them set up just right.

It was hard enough getting all the other faders and knobs and encoders and buttons to work right.

Not sure why I'd need a motorized fader on a show, other than to amaze people with my telekinetic powers.

It'd be nice to have that working as a master volume control, though.

By the way, MainStage 3.2.3 made all my screen control mapping go away on existing Concerts. My External Instrument channel strips for Motif ES Rack stopped working on existing Concerts, too. I could make new channel strips that work, but the existing ones are silent... looks like they aren't sending anything out to the Motif.  Midi activity indicator on the Motif doesn't flash. But create a new channel strip and it works fine.

I've got way too much time invested in tweaking my existing Concerts to try to re-create them for next weekend's gig.

Time Machine took me back to version 3.2.2 and everything is working fine.

What's the keybed action like on the P6 and is their any competition with this keyboard and it's Mainstage support?  I was looking at MIDI controllers that can map the organ drawbars and stumbled across this one which makes me wonder if there are anymore.  I'm just wondering about the build quality of this MIDI controller.

I've had mine for almost a year now. The keybed action is the one thing I really don't like about it. I use it on gigs, and do a lot of organ using Mainstage's Vintage B3 patch. It is really hard to do "smears" a.k.a. "palm glisses" with the P6 keyboard without hurting your hands. The edges of the keys are too sharp.  Also, I play pretty hard, and the keys make quite a bit of mechanical noise. If you're playing hard, but with the volume turned down, you will hear it, and it can be annoying.

The build quality is very good, though. I have had no problems with it. Apart from the Mainstage 3.2.3 release breaking the software integration, it has been really reliable and flexible. I still have found no use for the motorized fader.
