Q: Email not working

My email has stopped working, receive or sending - I've tried deleting the account & reloading but without success.  The same settings work OK on iPad & iPhone.  My MacBook Pro operates OS X Yosemite v. 10.10.2 with 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB memory & loads of space on the hard drive; the email programme is v 8.2 (2070.6).  Any suggestions please?
