Renaming dropped pins mac maps yosemite

A pin must be converted to a bookmark in order to give it a name. After dropping the pin, click it and a banner will appear. Click the Info symbol, and in the inspection window that opens, click Add Bookmark.

Now click the Bookmarks button in the toolbar of the Maps window, which looks like an open book. A window drops down, with a search box and an Edit button. Click that button and the saved bookmarks will become editable. Make your changes, then click outside the Bookmarks window to close it.

It's now "Add to Favorites" but it appears you have already set it as a Favorite.

To get to Favorites, click in the address field.

Select Favorites.

Click the Edit button.

Click on the name of the Favorite you made. The address is the default name.

You are correct.

It is one of the most unintuitive sequences I have ever seen, especially on any Apple product.

Click on the Search bar, then on "Favorites" (the one that looks like a heading, not something to click), then at the bottom (away from everything) is a button labeled "Edit" where you can edit anything in that list. What part in any of that sequence is intuitive?

Clicking on the "I" in the banner to get info, that's would have made sense. FROM THERE you should be able to edit the info as well as via the search bar.

I've wasted more time clicking on icons that do nothing.

They are doing more and more MS-like hidden right-clicks rather than being obvious. Good GUI is something a 5 year old could navigate. I have always liked Macs because I could boast to my friends that it is the same as MS, but my Mac requires fewer mouse clicks. I can't say that any more.

The Apple GUI has ventured way too far from its original concept of being simple.

Okay after adding the pin to favorites and going into the favorites and editing it and pressing "done". the pin still comes up on the map as 'dropped pin'. in the favorite list it shows the name I named it. but on the map it still says dropped pin. This is weak. Any help?
