Who builds Apple Maps?

I have recently been enlgihtened to how BAD Apple Maps is. I have found 50 locations of large stores, sports centres, bars etc in the wrong locations on the maps, where as they are more often correct on Google Maps. I have been submitting reports to Apple through the app and correcting the location for a few of these but there is a lot.

Many of us want to help improve user experience though one channel or another.

I assumed they used similar information like Google Maps using third party such as Yelp to locate places.

Does anyone know deals with Maps, or location data? And then how to get in touch with them?

don't want to issue a report a problem for each one.

so again my question was does anyone know who does the maps you know puts the location data in?

Then they may not get fixed. Apple buys its data from various sources. It is very unlikely that you would be able to find the source data and even more unlikely that said provider accepts corrects from end users. The "report a problem" feature is all there is. Don't expect to see any of those updates anytime soon. From what I've heard, it usually takes about 18 months to see an update from a submitted problem.

This is an incorrect statement.

First, there are a couple websites, e.g. http://appleinsider.com/articles/14/06/30/apple-updating-its-maps-with-user-corr ections-every-day-at-3-am-eastern who've reported that Apple has been updating their maps more frequently with reports from the community.

Secondly, I recently used the Apple Maps app to travel to an address which was inaccurate, and told me I had reached my destination a block away and placed the destination in the middle of a busy intersection; I ended up using Google Maps to correctly locate my destination.

After I submitted a report to alert Apple of the issue, I'm happy to say that within a week (not "18 months") it was corrected!

Moral of the story, keep making those reports to Apple to fix issues with their Maps app and you might be surprised!

Hope that helps!

Dyno86, I can verify zinacef's statement. If you submit corrections to Apple through the Maps app, "Report a Problem" mechanism they are usually fixed within a few days or weeks. I submit many corrections to Apple and received notifications through Notification Centre when they have been corrected.

Very true, no doubt about that except I've noticed lately that I've been trying to report a problem with their satellite image, i.e. a couple of businesses aren't showing up in Satellite view (it's just a blank area with dirt), and for weeks now it hasn't been fixed. Maybe they're more inclined to fix issues with the Maps portion however the Satellite portion is another story....

Yeah, I would not count on satellite imagery being updated on a regular basis. It's expensive and Apple is concentrating on adding more 3D views of major cities and areas of interest. I think they are also in the process of adding a street view similar to Google's which also adds more value to their maps.

I hope so as I would really love to use their app for GPS purposes however I've found lately that it has let me down!
