HP printer program keeps freezing every time I hit a button.

When working in HP printer, pages, numbers every time I click on a action it freezes up for a minute or two. Then I click on the next action and it freezes again and again. It takes forever to print stuff out. I am running OS X 10.10.2 with 12GB memory and the newest download for the HP officejet 6700 printer and Pages and Numbers. Also computer can not access printer scanner and I am hooked up with airport.

PowerMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2), early 2008 8 quad 2.28 dual 12GB me

You could try a reset of the printing system. With Printers & Scanners open, right-click in the Printers window and select Reset from the pop-up menu that appears. Note that this action will remove the HP and any other device you have in Printers & Scanners, but not the installed driver, so you will only have to add the printer again.

As for not being able to access the scanner, if the HP is connected via USB to an Airport router then you will not be able to use the scanner as the USB port on the Airport is for one direction communication. But if the HP is connected via wireless to the Airport then this does not apply.
