CD has no sound when played in stereo, but ok on iMac

I converted some mp4 files to aiff using iTunes on my iMac (I don't know the OS except it is V10, and it's one of the first year iMacs.) I then burned them to CD. When I put the CD in my stereo it "acts like" it's playing the CD, that is, the counter counts, but there is no sound coming out. Other CDs play fine on my stereo, and this CD plays fine in my iMac, but .... I want to play it in the stereo.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Hi, I have the same problem but only after the iTunes update from 7 to 7.0.1. After this update I have problem to burn audio CD and MP3 Cd too. I can't play this CD only on stereo car.

Can you tell me if you burned your CD with this version of ITunes (7.0.1).

Thanks.

I want to downgrade from 7.0.1 to iTunes 7

I have now had success playing CDs burned as Audio CD with iTunes for systems which previously would not play them, home and car. A different brand name of blank CD made the difference. I suggest that those who still have problems try getting small quantities of several brands and try each successively until one works on all systems. Also, I've lowered the burn speed to 4X, as one of the Apple trouble shooting lists suggested.

Mr. Newport,

What brand of CD are you using to burn?

I originally burned in itunes using the MP3 option since it holds 10 hours of music using a Memorex CD-RW and of course it wouldn't work for me on my stereo as my stereo doesn't support MP3's.

Then I erased the CD and burned it in audio CD format and it works in my stereo no problem and yes I'm using the new itunes. I've since burned audio format on both Memorex CD-R's and on Maxell CD-R's.

Hi,I use CD-R high performace and
I have not never had problems to produce musical MP3 CD, but now, after the update from iTunes 7.0.0 to 7.0.1 is changed something.
It's about a month that I'm trying to find a solution in this forum and athor forum in the world for being able to continue to burn MP3 CD with ITunes, but without result. Before, the upgrade to iTunes 7.0.1 I burn a CD with MP3 whithout problem, and they regularly work in the car stereo.
I have not executed no modification beyond to the update and I have not never changed kind of CD that have gone always well... before the update iTunes to 7.0.1. I have tried all the proposed possible solutions find in this forum and others but it does not change null, the CD with music in MP3 do not read more in the stereo car, therefore I have executed the downgrade to the version that went perfectly, iTunes 7.0.0 and it has not never given problems to me I have had some never to make particolar setting, but ..... is tragic! with surprise, also, burning the same MP3 music files what I just already burned whit the prewies version of iTunes, previously with happening before the upgrade to 7.0.1, the CD now, turns out same, it does not work on car stereo. I have tried all the suggestions of the forum, the last one burn to the speed of 1x but it does not change null. Finding solutions they are not I returned to my old PC windows and with Nero with which I burning without problems and to a decent speed in wait of knowing that what is happened moreover, and another surprise is the music codified in MP3 with iTunes 7.0.1 for mac, in windows it look like corupted, the MP3 codified with iTunes 7.0.0 go well. It would appeal to to me to continue to burn with mac as I have made for all the past summer and not with a old windows laptop. Now I must be back original .aiff file what I converted whit iTunes 7.0.1 for converted it again but I really hope understanding why happen this and what I must to do more.

Why the downgrade dosn't resolve the problem?

THANKS A LOT FOR ANY HELP

Alessandro

Hi,

Sorry this took so long, but I stopped checking since we weren't making much progress. Anyway, just as you, I was using Memorex but shifted to Maxell. They now play on both home systems with no problem, and work in my car, usually. I sometimes have to eject and re-insert a couple of times before it plays. I consider this a work around, not a real solution. There must still be something wrong.

Hi,

I use Emetec HighPerformance, TDK and Imation, but the best CD-R for me is the first one because is light and if I listen music driving the car in bad conditions street, (is not dificult in italy), the song run well anyway.

I never solved my problem, just working around and trashing a lot of cd.
My stereo car don't want more read new CD burned after and whit iTunes version 7.0.1, with 7.0.2 too and downgrade to 7.0.0 dosn't solve my problem.

It is strange because I just try to burn the same music what I just burned this summer whit ITunes 7.0.0 whitout problem, I mean i can listen the CD-R whit the MP3 in stereo car, and now, after the update, I can't burn another CD-R playable in stereo car whit the same music.

Maybe Apple care can solve?

I think there is a serious issue with iTunes 7.01 and 7.02.
With the previous versions, I had no problem burning tracks downloaded from iTunes. Now I can burn them, but they won't play in my car, but they play in my wife's older car and on my G5. To me this has rendered iTunes useless.

I've tried all versions of speeds, TDK, Gold Mam-a, memorex and Sony. Nda, zip, none will work. And yes, I have selected Audio, not selected include text. Tried 80 min vs 74 min. No good. Created a dozen or so useless disks.

I thought I was losing my mind! I went to the apple store today for this very problem. (I have always been able to play cd's burned on my mac (three years) and played them with no problem. Ever since the previous update these disks are not recognized in any player I put them in.) The "expert" there told me to change my import setting to AIFF encoder which didn't make much sense to me but just tried it - to no avial. I have wasted so many disks trying to find a fix for this.

Hi,
at a first I have thought that the problem was the operating sytem panther 10.3.9 but I see that also in a newest Duo Core whit Mac OS X 10.4.3 exists the same problem.

I add that now I'm not able to produce CD-R with AUDIO setting too, the CD-R continue not to work in the car stereo
and this only happen after the update.

I have tried other kind of CD-R but it does not change null.
