Using UK DVDs on USA iMac G5

Hi there,
I can't seem to be able to watch UK DVDs on my American iMac. Originally, it would open with DVD Player but I got the message about the region code. I later heard that the program VLC allows me to be able to watch DVDs from anywhere, so I used system preferences to make VLC the default program when I put in the DVD. VLC opens just fine but it wont play the DVD at all. No repsonse at all. Can anyone help me?

I am assuming you did not change it because you did not know how? For detailed instructions on how to do so, open up your OS Help Menu. In the search field type region code.
On the next page that opens up, click on the "region code" link.

I am reluctant to change the region code in DVD player as you can only do it 5 times and I would like to be able to watch US and UK DVDs freely. Are there any other programs where the region code can be changed many more times? Maybe and infinite number of times?

I personally do not know of any nor heard of any. As far as I know, your only other alternative would be to erase your HD & start all over in order to change to region codes 5 more times.
