Mac Pro 3,1 Uncorrectable Fbd memory error detected

Dear Community,

I am running 10.10.2 on my early 2008 Mac Pro 3,1. I have recently been experiencing a sudden reboot, at least once a day, when watching video. Seems memory related and not sure what to do.

Below is the report shown after start up. Please help me decipher the meaning and guide me toward next steps for discovering a solution. Many thanks!

First go to About This Mac in upper left after clicking on the Apple icon and then to System Report and then to memory. Does it say OK by all sticks?

If so try reseating those sticks. If still listed as not OK then remove them since they appear to be bad.

If they say OK then reseat all sticks. If still problem remove a matched set and try again. If still problem replace those sticks and remove another set. Repeat until you no longer have the problem

This is what a BAD one will look like:

thanks to anandtech.com for making and posting this graphic.

Correctable errors will start to accumulate in a Bad module, and eventually you will get an error that can not be corrected.

Keep in mind that this display is a snapshot, and is not updated unless you choose REFRESH off a Menu or invoke the report again. (which you should be doing, about every half hour, until you find the bad module(s).

Also keep in mind that temperatures inside the box will strongly influence memory errors.
