airport only works when screen is tilted a couple inches from the keyboard

hi,
for the last few weeks my airport will only become active if my computer screen is at a 30 degree angle or so, a couple inches off from the keyboard. when i swing the screen to a 90 degree angle there is no signal.

is this a problem with the antenna?

The airport antenna are effectively located within the flat screen of the PowerBook. You will see to plastic section on each side of the screen; this is where the antennas are located. So it may be an antenna issue.

But it can also be a signal power or interferance issue. Do you experience the same issue even if your powerbook is located near your wireless router?

The antennas are inside you flat screen. Personnally, I would try to open it myself. Is your computer is still under warrenty? If so, you should go to your Apple technician or contact AppleCare.

In the mean time, if you have a way to try your computer with another wireless router (in an internet coffee or with your friends) just to make sure that this is not related to the router itself.

good luck!
