More information about what is happening would be helpful. Are you using Wi-Fi or Ethernet?
What do you mean by ISP failure? I doubt your ISP has actually failed, and if it did it would have nothing to do with your computer. Are you saying you can not access the internet? How are you connected to your network? WiFI? If so did you sign on to your WiFI network?
Thank you for ypur prompt reply. My iMac is a 16GB late 2013. Using Wi Fi and router is NETGEAR. running current version OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. My problem since upgrade to Yosemite is as follows. When I switch on the computor I have a Wi Fi signal. When I try to open a web page nothing happens. I then open the Network in System Preference. Network name is displayed. click on assist me, then Diagnostics. Under Network Status I have a green dot in front of Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Settings and Network Setting. I also have a red dot and failed in front of ISP, Internet and Server. Continue with the Diagnostics procedure and everything shows up green. Once I go back to open a web page fault reoccurs straight away. There are two IPads and two iPhones running on the same router and we have no problems. I have removed and reattached the Neatgear Network but this has not helped.
Regards Stopey.
You are welcome. Have you tried restarting/resetting the router?
Yes I have Eric. ( Also switched off at night and restarted every morning).
Hello Eric. I tried the Cmd + Option + P + R command about an hour ago and all seems to be working okay at the moment. Will run with this for a while and come back. Again many thanks for your time.
You are welcome.
Please Eric can you explain to a very non-savvy person what the command is that helped Stopey? I have the exact same problem having tried the same things as they did. Then all of a sudden they say they tried a particular command and it worked and they thanked you. Can you help me too?
Many thanks
Emily
