Apr 5, 2015 11:01 AM in response to Loner Tby Olemacr,I should have mentioned that this problem is with my brother in laws Mac so will get the info you asked for asap. For a little bit of clarity the black screen occurs after the chime just before the normal sign in window for Win 7 where you need to enter your password if that makes any difference.

Apr 5, 2015 1:38 PM in response to Olemacrby Loner T,If it is portable Mac, you should try plugging in the power adapter. Windows has two different screen brightness settings, one for battery and one for power adapter. It may be that your screen brightness is set too low.
iMacs, MacMinis and MacPro desktops behave differently.

There is a known issue with some iMacs. Please see Boot Camp: iMac displays a black screen during installation of Windows 7 - Apple Support.
