Q: iPhone is always in full storage state

I've recently update my iPhone 5S 16B to iOS 8.2 and after that iphone doesn't free up any space. It started to increase "Used Memory" until it hit to maximum 12GB or memory. So even after I removed lots of pictures and video (and yes, I removed them from "recently removed" as well) and even some apps and app data it's still inside it's full memory state and doesn't recognize the memory update at all.

Now I can't use it because the full memory state stop you from being able to take new pictures, many apps won't start (e.g. facebook), so I'm getting very frustrated. I tried to restore iphone to previous backup before update but it won't restore because "I don't have any memory left".

What the **** is going on with this update!?!

    Hey there sickomilenkovic,

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like your iPhone 5s is running out of storage and you aren’t able to free up any space. The article linked below provides information that may help you resolve the storage capacity issue.

See how much storage you've used on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

If your device isn’t behaving as expected, you can always try restarting it as shown in this article:

    Take care,

    -Jason

    Hi Jason,

I ended up reseting the iPhone to factory settings and then restoring my backup (that I did 4 days before) to it, and it turned out that I've got 4GB of free storage, so I guess that it was the iPhone that couldn't realise that something was deleted.

    Take Care,

    /Stefan

I have a similar problem with iPhone 6.0.  It tells me I have zero space.  I cannot take pictures or do much because of it.  I turned on the cloud feature because I have 200GB of space up there.  I thought this would store all my pictures and all my music in the cloud, freeing up the device.  Is that what it does or not?  I have deleted at least 50 apps.  I am to a point of wondering what I need a smart phone for if I cannot use aps on it.  I presently have only 42.  It shows I have photos, videos etc but they are all in the cloud.  So what do I delete?  Also, my screen did not look like the pictures here.  Thx.  Maud
