Q: Can't extend display apple tv

When I connect my mac to my samsung tv 1080p using apple tv airplay. I do not get an option to extend my display, only to mirror the displays. Nor does the arrangemen tab appear of displays in system preferences.

However if i connect via HDMI cable, I can both mirror and extend displays

Mirroring otherwise works fine.

Any solutions?

    Hello Dannygnufc,

After reviewing your post, it sounds like you want to use AirPlay with your Mac to use a TV as an extended desktop. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X - Apple Support

If your Mac supports using your Apple TV as a display, an AirPlay menu appears in the menu bar when an Apple TV is on the same network.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Have a nice day,
