I have 50-60 Events that imported into Photos app, with each having hundreds of photos, all thrown into one folder.

Try using aroma.
Events are the basic unit of organization in iPhoto
They don't exist in Photos.app - there the basic unit of organization is the Moment.
Your Events were converted to Albums, which are accessible via the Side bar in Photos.
Where is the sidebar in photos?
On the View menu.
