Dell U2715H monitor blurry font

I just bought a brand new Macbook Pro 15" Retina and a Dell monitor to hook up to it. The Dell is a U2715H, and I'm connecting the two through the Display Port cable that came with the monitor to the thunderbolt port of the MBP. All software is up to date (including OS X), and I ran all the tests on the monitor to show that it's fine. Video and pictures look good on the monitor, but unfortunately the fonts show up as blurry. The monitor is running its native resolution at 2560x1440 60Hz.

Does anyone know how to address this problem?

A couple more things would be; double check font smoothing is enabled.

- Open System Preferences and click “General”. At the bottom of the preference panel, check the box next to “Use LCD font smoothing when available”. Smoothing size, 8 is the default setting and tends to look best on most monitors.

Also: Go into the monitor settings and try changing the color mode from Standard to sRGB.

you could try this. on "Displays" under "system preferences" option click on where it says "Scaled" to get a bunch more display options

also try this EDID link I've found. I have a Dell 2715HM which had problems and this fixed them. Your mileage may vary, though

just fyi, Dell is of no help for this. They have said "We don't test our monitors on Apple stuff, we don't support 'em, and that's it. If they work, they work.

If a new cable does not help, you could try mini display to HDMI. Tho the main thing is: they have different native resolutions, the next closest supported scaling on the mac is: 1920x1200 (hence my original suggestion). They also differ in aspect ratio; the mac uses 16:10 and Dell 16:9, so the resolution will be close but never match 100%. Which will affect output to a certain degree.
