backups for photo library cannot be turned off at this time

Is there an unfininished backup in progress.

I have the same problem.

Churchill what do you mean is there an unfinished backup? How do I know? I often get the warning that my iPhone is not backed up because there is not enough space on the iCloud. So I guess that iOS tried to do a backup but realized that there is not enough space.

Same issue for me, but I'm paying for iCloud space and have plenty available. When I go to Settings > iCloud > Backup and choose "Back Up Now" I get a progress bar for less than a second and then "The last backup could not be completed."

Same question to me. I don't use iCloud to back up my iPhone, the iCloud Drive has only 8M bytes data, but iCloud Space settings page shows there is 1.2G bytes for "backup". I think it has to be my Photo Library backup in the cloud, so I delete all backup, then tried to turn off the Photo Library backup on iPhone settings. However, this error message shows, clicking "Try Again" has no success.

What time can be used to turn off Photo Library backup? Midnight or some time slot for example from 11:59:00 to 12:00:00?

I kept trying and finally turned it off. I deleted all backup from iCloud storage, but few hours later, I found that switch is automatically turned on again, and 1.3G bytes had been uploaded to my iCloud storage. Is it a bug in iOS 9.1?

I turned it off and deleted the backup data again, see what happens next...

I get the same message because the next back-up is too big. I am unable to turn off photo library backup at this time. I don't want them backed up and never turned it on in the first place. I am backing up to the PC until I sort it out.

When your iphone is charging & is connected to wifi, backup is being tried continuously in the background.

So remove your iphone form charging mode but keep it connected to wifi and then disable apps you do not want to backup.

This worked for me, hope it helps you out.

I was able to work around this.

Steps I Took

1. Turn off iCloud Backup (Settings > iCloud > Backup)

2. Power down device

3. Power device back on

4. Turn iCloud Backup Back on.

It worked. Just to confirm I tried one more time before following your proceedure. I then tried again to turn off photo library backup within MANAGE BACKUPS and it worked. It now backs up because the library stayed turned off. Apple wanted me to buy extra storage and I refused. I found it difficult to find the "turn of backup" tab as I keep going straight passed it.
