Converting a Google Video Player File.

Is there a way to convert a Google Video Player video clip so that it can imported into a format that can be imported into Final Cut Express HD?

Assuming you have the rights to use such a clip, it's doable. Do the whole download the Google clip thing. You'll find a .gvi movie in your ~/Movie folder. Rename the .gvi extension to .avi, and you can then open it in Quicktime Player. From here, export it into, say, DV format, then import that into FCE.

Mind you, you'd be better off asking this question in the FInal Cut Express forum.

Let's just say it was a video one of your relatives posted and you wish to edit it...

You can find the video you'd like, then in Safari Window/Activity you can find the .flv file Double-click on it to Download it.

Then find a program to convert the .flv file to Quicktime so it can be read in Final Cut. There's many out there but I use iSquint. Play around with the export options in iSquint to get the size and quality you want.

It can be done, whether you should be doing it or not well... that's another issue.
