Network port configuration switches from ethernet connection to airport by itself losing my internet connection. I have a LAN cable running from my router dircectly to my ethernet port, as well as the router supplying my house devices.I have "locked" network setting to no avail.Ideas ?

I'm sorry to hear you are having this issue with your iMac. If you want to give priority to your Ethernet connection, you may want to double-check that it at the top of the network port list, as outlined in the following article:
