Q: black border around my desktop and everything is zoomed out?

i have a macbook air and just this morning i noticed the desktop screen is zoomed out and there is a black border around the page, also when i go on safari or any other app everything is slightly zoomed out including text. even when i zoom in on the page it is still small and i still see a black border which covers the buttons to exit or minimize the page unless i go over it with my cruiser. how can i get the screen back to normal ?

Is there a secondary monitor connected (or does OSX think it is)? There's probably mirroring enabled with over/underscan.

i had it connected last night but took it out, how do disable the mirroring function?

Try a NVRAM reset
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R.
Turn on your Mac.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys immediately after you hear the startup sound.
Hold these keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for a second time.
Release the keys.
