battery led codes

Hi

My MBP will not fire up with or without AC cord attached. When I press the battery indicator button on left side (think that's what it is), I get first LED (green) lash 3 times.... on third time it fades out. Tried connecting to different power source - same result. Same sequence occurs when I reattach power. When disconnecting from power, green LED flashes rapidly multiple times then stops..... but no apparent power.

Any suggestions.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), 16GB RAM 512GB SDD

Did you try this?

Reset SMC

Then:

Try a hard reset. Disconnect the battery and power adapter. Press the power button for 1 minute. Let the computer sit for 5 minutes, Reconnect and try to start up.

No? - Go through the same procedure and try to start without the battery connected.

The addendum to this would be to try a known good battery.

" When I press the battery indicator button on left side (think that's what it is), I get first LED (green) lash 3 times.... on third time it fades out."

No state light change on the MagSafe cord? Green to amber, indicating charging? Those lights mean the battery is not charging and a SMC reset or the hard reset should get it charging again.

If you get this sorted out I would be suspicious of the battery.
