Drop Down Menus in webpages not appearing

Hi

I am running Mac OS 10.10.2 (Yosemite) with Safari 8.0.4 on a late 2012 Mac Mini.

In certain web-pages the drop-down menus to select options are not functioning. For example at www.greyhound.ca the drop down menus for the box "Leaving From" or any of the other drop-downs including date, adults etc will not appear; and consequently the web-page will not function correctly. Also had a similar problem with an Australian government web page - however in this instance some of the drop down menus would operate and others would not.

I have cleared the history and website data on a number of occasions but to no avail. My wife has an iMac (OS 10.10.2 & Safari 8.0.4) and is experiencing the same issue. We operate through an ISP offering a high-speed cable internet connection, so download speeds are very fast.

Finally I had to download and install Firefox - there are no issues when using this browser and therefore it would appear that Safari is incompatible with certain websites/webpages.

I hope Apple is aware of this inherent "bug" in Safari and can soon provide a remedy.

Thanks

Go step by step by step and test.

1. Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.

Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.

Restart the computer.

Start up in Safe Mode.

2. Delete Caches.db

Close all windows and quit all applications.

Hold "option" key down and click "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.

Select "Library" from the dropdown.

Library > Caches > com.apple.Safari > Caches.db

Right click the Caches.db file and select "Move To Trash.

Close windows and relaunch Safari.

3. Empty Caches

Safari > Preference > Advanced

Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".

Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.

Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.

4. Safari > Preferences > Extensions

Turn off Extensions if any and launch Safari again to test.

Turn on those one by one and test.

Hi Linc

Yes, I believe the Greyhound Canada web page must be defective and, as you said, Firefox is more tolerant of such defects as it works satisfactorily on this web page.

I would like to know if other Mac users running 10.10.2 and Safari 8.0.4 also experience the same difficulty with this particular web page? Also, as I said previously, I encountered similar problems on an Australian government web page which had numerous drop down menus in that most drop down menus would operate but some would not.

Thanks
