There are books I have downloaded which I am sure I will never look at again. I would like to erase them completely so that they do not litter my bookshelf. How can I get rid of the memory of these titles so that I don't even see them as a possible download sitting in the Cloud?

iBooks > View > Hide iCloud Books. Or you can enter the iBooks Store, and using Quick Links, select Purchased, click on a book and an 'x' will appear in left-hand side, click 'x' to hide it. To unhide books select Account > iTunes in the Cloud > Hidden Purchases.
