Q: Deleting unwanted app folders

I have an unwanted folder in my iCloud Drive and I would like to know how to delete it from my iCloud Drive.

The folder must have been created when I installed the GoodReader app on my iPad, but I found that the this app was not very good and did not suit my purposes. Unfortunately, during the app installation, GoodReader created this folder. I have not yet found anywhere that tells me how to delete it. Selecting the folder does not allow me to delete like a file.

I know it's not the same app, but I have no problems deleting 3rd party folders.

Have you tried changing permissions on this folder.

The GoodReader folder only appears if I login to my iCloud using a web browser and select iCloud Drive. This folder does not appear in iCloud on my iPad or my iPhone. Nor does it appear if I select iCloud Drive on my Mac Mini or my MacBook Pro. I have erased the GoodReader app from my iPad and have restored the iPad since I deleted the app. This is why I am puzzled as to how to delete the folder because I get no delete options when I try to delete the folder.

Are you able to delete it from System preferences.

The GoodReader folder does not appear in System Preferences. This folder only appears in iCloud Drive when I login to my iCloud account using a web browser, either Safari or Chrome.

Then I'm wondering if it's really there at all and not a cache issue. Have you tried emptying the cache. Can you see the folder in your mobile documents folder (you might need to look using Time Machine).

TThe caches are cleared and so is my browsing history. This GoodReader folder only appears in iCloud Drive in my iCloud account when I open it in a web browser.

If it doesn't appear in your Mobile Document folder it doesn't exist.

Did you actually look in your Mobile Documents folder.

The other thing you might try is re-installing the app and then turning the folder off at settings > iCloud > iCloud drive, before removing the appertain.

I Do not have a specific mobile documents folder on my iPad. On my MacBook and Mac Mini I have iCloud Drive and the only folders that appear there are specific to the apps that use the, for example Pages, Preview and so on. No GoodReader folder.

Your Mobile Documents Folder is hidden on your Mac, I won't go into how to find it just now, until you try the last thing I suggested.

I have located the Mobile Documents folder on my MacBook Pro and the GoodReader folder is there, but I cannot delete it. I click on it and select move to trash and confirm that the folder will be deleted everywhere. However, nothing happens and the folder is still there.

I cannot access Get Info for this folder so that I can change permissions on the folder. So how do I change permissions and delete the folder?

I have reinstalled the GoodReader app, but cannot open it. The app is asking for an access key which I do not have. This did not happen when I first installed this app last year. I am not connected to any business network and I am an individual trying to get rid of something. I have contacted the app developer for help on the access key.

I think I'd be tempted to follow that route for the time being.
