I am trying to run a third party software that requires my mac to be able to use ICMP. When I try to ping myself using 127.0.0.1, it reports "Request timeout for icmp_seq #" and the # keeps increasing and it continues to try. I have searched the internet looking for answers and none have surfaced. This is an issue on multiple macs. The Macs are bound to a company domain. I can ping other computers but can't receive pings.

If the built-in firewall is on, turn it off.
I knew I'd forget to mention something I've done. Yes, the firewall is turned off.
Boot in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime. Test, then reboot as usual.
Found the culprit. The corporate image of the OS requires McAfee. And I didn't realize but McAfee has a software firewall. Fixed by turning the ping rejections off. Now the software still isn't working but it's no longer an issue with the Mac. I think it's an issue with the software.
