cannot post reviews: nickname already used

How on earth is it possible to write a review about an app in the app store?

I have tried many times now and after taking the time to write a complete review of apps, I always get this error after I press send: nickname already in use. And all my effort was for nothing (cause of course my complete review in gone then).

Why is it so difficult to write a review? It helps apple to add quality to their apps: user experiences count much much more then just the programmers advertising text.

I tried, I will give up now. Apple thinks it is so fantastic but how on earth is it possible that writing a simple review is so **** hard? 😠

I totally agree with DutchArjo - btw, had murders trying to log into this page, having to create (another!) username in order to be able to do so. To be fair, those difficulties were probably due to the awfulness of the Chrome app (about which I tried to leave a review and encountered the same problems as above and after 3 tries at creating a nickname, gave up). Anyway, the point was that once you've written a review, if you then attempt to select a nickname that is already taken, your whole review disappears, so you have to re-write the whole thing, once you've found a nickname that works. A "nickname" should not be necessary, or you should have the option to set this up independently of writing reviews. I checked my Apple ID using the link from App store, and nowhere does it allow me to set up a "nickname" - just as I wouldn't be able to set up a username for this page, from within my Apple ID. It seems you need a different name/username/nickname for each single different Apple feature. Or the reviewing process should not delete your whole review each time you select a nickname that's already taken. I've tried to leave one on at least 3 separate occasions, and tried more than once on two of those, and each time, had the same problem mentioned above, so this is not an isolated error, but seems to be something happens regularly. Without sorting out a nickname, you can't write a review, basically, but it tells you this nowhere, so new users write their review, then get told they need to select a nickname, and if they try one already taken, they loose their review.

Same problem here. I cannot write a review due to nickname taken. Tried even with crazy names but still could not get through. I wrote a text with thoughts into it to give proper feedback and the whole text was deleted after I received the info that nickname was already taken.

It is unbelievably frustrating and using iPhone/iPad since its existence, I found that user experience extremely disappointing.

I bought a game on AppStore which is really buggy, basically stops very shortly after starting it, and it is really interesting to see that when an app does not function properly bought from AppStore that Apple is not there to support the end consumer with simpler processes.

I would expect a better support on app with bugs, and a clear way to give feedback.

thank you Apple for your future efforts on that

same thing here, tried to leave reviews (like real complete ones with comparaisons and detailed explanations) and got kicked out by the code of a careless developer.

Will likely never try to leave reviews again.

How this big issue has still not been resolved is beyond me.

Leaving reviews and searching was working so good on google play, I'm so disgusted with this app store.

I have never been able to submit an app review. And we all know that lots of the apps at the apple store could use one or a thousand honest, one star reviews. When I initially set up my ipad air, I did choose to protect my privacy a little bit by not sharing analytic info with apple. I'm talking about the Settings option under privacy. Since I set this option on day one and have never, ever been able to post reviews, I suspect that apple punishes people who try to limit big corporations wanting to spy on them. Of course I can't confirm that without data from at least thousands of users if we want to try detecting a pattern that supports my hypothesis. At this point my suspicion borders on a "post hoc, ergo propter hoc" (aka post hoc fallacy) type argument and I am aware of that. Have not thus far seen any website address this possible nefarious connection.
