I had to reset factory settings on my Gen 1. How do I update to IOS 7? I cant get any apps until I update

Please help me update my IPad to new IOS 7. I had to reset to factory settings and I cant seem to update.

A first generation iPad can’t be updated past 5.1.1.

How do I put apps back onto it? How would I update to 5.1.1?
