Hi all.
I Both FCPX and compressor creates many video duplicates and the iMac is running out of memory.
Do you mean memory (8 GB) or storage (2 TB)?
In FCP, the duplicates you mention are likely being created because you're optimizing at import. This may not be necessary, depending on the media and complexity of your project. Also, check the size of your render files; they accumulate with every re-render.
As to Compressor duplicating files, I don't know. I've use Compressor a lot over time and i've not seen this.
How long is the movie you're trying to make a DVD from? Could you make it in FCP X?

The internal memory of iMac is 8GB and external hard drive capacity is 2TB.
The movie i'm trying to make on DVD is One hour 30 mins.
How do i prevent this duplication?
How do i make compressor to batch faster?

Apr 9, 2015 8:55 AM in response to Mashk Witby Russ H,I don't believe there is anything you can do to speed up the MPEG processing, short of buying new equipment, The i7 can support 2 instances of Compressor, which does increase speed substantially, But the i5 does not. If you have another computer, you may be able to use distributed processing. My only other suggestion is to make sure you have enough free memory at the start of the job. (You can check that in Activity Monitor.) Also, avoid having too many other processes running during the job.
Question: why are you using DL disks for a 90 minute movie? It should fit OK on a single layer disk.
