I just installed Photos on my iMac. I have taken a LOT of time making Events in iPhoto. Is there a way for me to convert the Events I made with iPhoto into Albums for the new Apple Photos software? It would take me a LONG time to make new Albums and then copy all the Event images into the New Albums.
Is there a way to automate this?

I had the same problem. There is a quick and easy fix. Go to My Albums section and then go into the album "iPhoto Events" and then hit Command + A (Select All) that will highlight all the events. Then right click and click on move events out of "iPhoto Events". Once you do this, all your events will be individual albums listed in the album section. Hope this helps. Cheers!

I See. Photos made a Folder Called iPhoto Events, and each of those Events were made into an Album in that Folder. Thank you! It will take me a while getting used to the new system.
OK, thank you. Not quite as simple as Merge...especially when I could merge say the seven separate days of vacation into one Album... with one command + click.
I don't understand why iPhotos events appears at all under Photos, especially when I import to Photos. What's going on?
If you do what explained above, you'll get back the top menu with said tabs.
shortcut = Go to the VIEW menu and select "HIDE SIDEBAR"
yep, now I get it, thanks (why they don't make the possibility of doing it in the sidebar as well, that's another story!)

You could use Albums instead, and then a simple Smart Album
File -> New Smart Album
Album -> is not -> Any
Will find unfiled images.

You have got to be kidding! If I wanted to do everything by hand I would go back to using Windows.
There are no apps that use the Events paradigm. So, no matter what app you go to, you're going to need to change your basic organisational systemm. You can also buy Lightroom outright.
