pros and cons of matte screen cover for macbook pro retina?

reasons i want to buy it:

i have always used matte screen covers on my apple products (iphone 5s, ipad 2, ipad air 2)

i prefer it to bare screen because it reduces glare and i believe makes them more easy on my eyes.

i have heard of anti reflective coating damage on macbooks retinas after a few months of use and hope that screen protector would prevent that.

i am not sure whether it will close properly with matte coating. could use share your experiences on this matter?

Please link to the Matte overlay you wish to buy.

Note-
Matte softens a displayed image, so HD media and high-quality images will not seem as sharp.

If you want to reduce eyestrain, pick up a pair of Gunnar computer glasses.

Anti-reflective damage after a few months? What? Please source this claim.

I have used well over 300 assorted Macbook Pros, not a single one exhibits this issue. I am going to guess that the damage some people see are from using the wrong cleaning agent on the glass.
