i've tried everything possible known to me to solve this, but nothing works/

what i've done so far:

- after first time install of 8.3 over wifi, battery drains even in standby-> switched everything of: GPS/ location, refreshing apps, icloud, etc, hard reset, repair iphone over itunes-> nothing

-re install of 8.2, everything remains the same

-re install 8.3 using itunes, nothing

-deleted the phone completely, reinstalled as a new phone, purely the bacis settings of wifi/ 3g, mail, icloud, nothing more-> no solution

-reinstalled again over itunes with backup.

the only thing that helps to keep the battery alive is switching off 3G/ Wifi, although the battery still has the same standby-usage time, it doesn't drain anymore, yesterday fully charged at 7 am, no wifi of 3G during the day ( except for a few minutes to check email/ FB ) still 25% left at 23.30 h

when leaving 3G on and not in use, losing about 6% / h in standby

since i'm clearly not the only one with this problem, has anyone contacted apple about this issue? which way to follow to do this?

Yes, I've tried to contact Apple 2x in regards to this. And they were completely no help what so ever... I have a 64gb iphone 6. I have had an iPhone since the original. I can honestly say I've never experienced such a problem with an update as with 8.3. I'm a nurse and I'm not on my phone all night at work. From 7p-11p with maybe sending 4-6 texts in that 4 hour window my battery will drain down to 70% and this is with all apps in the background closed. 30% battery drain with VERY minimal usage is crazy and it never did that before th iOS 8.3 update. I could go a whole 12 hour shift and still have > 50% battery left, that is not the case any more. I did the update over wifi at first... I tried restoring the phone re downloading over wifi. I've done it via iTunes and started as a new phone but the battery still is horrible. My phone takes 2-3x as longer to charge as well. I HAD a battery case charger for it. But now that doesn't work either. I keep getting this assessory is not certified and may not work properly. (I have multiple Apple chargers and only 1 of them is working with my iPhone, but all the other chargers work fine on my iPad mini with 8.3 and my moms iPhone 6 Plus with 8.3 and my co workers iPhones at work). Even the one that does work randomly pops up with that message when the phone gets > than 95%. Yes I have checked for lint in the port as well as tried cleaning the inside of the charging port with cotton. I've ordered Amazon MFi cables and they don't work with my phone but again work with my iPad mini and my moms 6 plus. Once the one charger I have stops working I don't know what I'm going to do. My iPhone battery also drains when's turned OFF plugged into the wall. Used to not do that either... At this point I honestly just want to file an insurance claim and get another phone. All of my issues happened after my iOS 8.3 update and all of this was explained to Apple support. I got no resolution from them other than change my settings... I don't think it's the battery so I don't see the point of getting that changed espically since other people are experience the exact same issue. And support will not acknowledge that customere are having this issue. Even though I have only had this phone since November and should be under warranty I'm just to the point where I want to file and insurance claim and get another phone. Which I shouldn't have to do in the first place. And with my Apple Watch suppose to ship between the 24th and the 8th I can only imagine the battery like getting worse when it's connected to the watch. Just my 2 cents.

recently after the iOS 8.3 update my system memory is running on low and battery drainage remains shocking, is anybody else experiencing app crashes ? I called apple and they said the backboard app is taking the majority of my system memory so I tried to reset all of the settings back to factory settings, however, they said it never resolved he issue so I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix the issue, whether it was a hardware issue , whether it contributed to my battery life or if anyone has the same issue and has had it fixed ?

I one time played 4 hours game in a row before iPhone alerted me the power was critically low.

And I have Wifi, Cellular, Location Services, Background App Refresh, and many more services on. I often play games, watch youtube videos, browse web pages through a whole day. But I can often use more than 6 hours before battery drop below 20%.

So, if possible, try install no apps after resetting and erasing the iPhone, to see if it is the issue from system, or from third party apps. Use iPhone without installing any app for one or two days, or longer, to see its battery statistics.

There is a useful widget called "iMonitor". It can help you see some basic information of your iPhone. Another app called "Battery Graph" is also good.

My iPhone 5 seems to have settled down and I am getting very good battery life this week. I hope it lasts this way! I have no desire to go through a reinstallation of everything.

I think the single biggest difference between last week and this week is that last week I was in a "no cellular service" area most of the workday. Battery Usage was showing extensive activity trying to find cell service and had run the battery down to about 50% (mostly on standby) by the end of the workday. This week, I am in a location with cellular service, and the battery is still in the high 90's at the end of the workday (mostly on standby).

Also, last week I turned off a lot of the background checking stuff like mail push, automatic app updating, and handoff, but only helped somewhat.

My husband's and my iPhone5S's batteries have been draining very fast since we updated to 8.3. We both updated over the air, without being plugged into iTunes. I am not using my phone anymore than I have been using it on a regular basis, however I notice that I can't seem to keep this thing charged. It seems like it goes from 33% to 18% and then shuts off within a matter of minutes. The other day I had 18% left and was attempting to send a text and before I could send it my phone shut off.

This is not normal. I agree with the other poster that limiting usage or manipulating what we have on our phones is not the way to solve this. Apple needs to fix this.

At the Apple Store, they were able to run a diagnostic that showed which processes were hanging or otherwise behaving abnormally since the 8.3 upgrade. There were about 10 on my 4S: Facebook, Safari, and 8 OS components (Springboard, HomeKit, forgot the rest). My iCloud account was also behaving strangely.

The first fix was to go home, complete an iTunes backup, then logout of iCloud, hard restart, login iCloud with "merge" setting. That actually has improved things, to the point where yesterday evening I had over 10h since last charge and only 3h usage. iCloud backup still showing incorrect information, but at least there's less drain in standby.

The second fix suggested was to do the factory reset in iTunes, then restore as new. Haven't tried it.

So, if you have a chance to visit an Apple Store, at least they can run some diagnostics to pinpoint what programs are causing the problem, and confirm that the battery itself is not damaged. Make sure you have a very recent backup in iCloud and iTunes before you talk with them.

what do you mean by 'merge'? i'm from belgium, dutch speaking :-)

i've configured icloud : drive out, foto's on ( only fotostream and icloud sharing ) , backup off, keychain off, find my iphone on

i make my backup through itunes on my laptop

i have the impression that the last days drainage is getting better, don't know why, haven't changed anything, except for updating a few apps

i've read in another topic that this could also mean an improvment and that some apps could cause drainage also

for what its worth: booking, runkeeper, shazam, yahoo weather, remote, whatsapp, imdb, xe currency are tha apps whiwh are updated yesterday

That is what I was thinking too, thanks anyway. I wish I could manually handle it myself to be honest. Coming from an Android background I am used to Power Power Power but also app crashes, where as with iOS I was used to less power and no app crashes, but after the iOS 8.3 update I am so disappointed, it is even affecting the iPad Air. The app iMonitor indicates to me that most of the time on the 6 Plus I only have 88MB of system memory left and even with no other apps running which I am not sure is normal or not .

Apr 24, 2015 2:41 AM in response to 白崎つぐみ

to be honest, i have no clue what is meant by this 'merge'. do you mean i have to change some settings on the icloudwebsite or on the phone itself?

i have already tested if there was any difference with icloud active or disabled on the phone, but that did not make a real difference. the only thing that made a difference was shutting down 3G/ wifi. then the battery doesn't drain although in the settings of the battery you can still see that standby en usage time are still the same, so the phone is still busy but without the internet connection it has no effect on the battery. i will log of icloud on the phone and website, do a hard reset e, log in again, and then we'll see of this does make any difference
