All my .raw files are converted to .JPG

Uploading my .raw files to the Photos (not to iCloud), all of them gets converted to .JPG files. However, if I upload the .jpg (note the lowercase) file together with the .raw file, both files gets uploaded to Photos but one has the file ending of .jpg and the other .JPG. Even more bizzare is that Photos also decide to reduce the original .raw file's size from ~15.5Mb to 3.3Mb in addition to the .JPG conversion. Anyone else having this odd behaviour? Did Apple test their software with .raw files even?

P.S I've tried with .raw files from various sorces, taken on various cameras - they all convert and to ,JPG and drastically reduced in file-size.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10), Safari 8.0

I'm not using iCloud in Photos so that option wasn't available.

I did however get it up and running as it should. First I created a new Photolibrary, then I imported my .raw files manually from Finder, into Photos (folder by folder). It was probably something that went awry during the initial import.

Seems to run like clockwork now. Thanks guys.
