Not working for me on my iPhone 5s or my iPad Air 2 either.  I wonder if this has anything to do with the prompt I received the first time I "bought" a free app after upgrading to iOS 8.3.  It asked me if I wanted to require my password every time or once every 15 minutes (I chose always).  I don't know why it asked this considering when Touch ID is enabled it always prompts.  As such I think it's a bug related to the new Password settings and Apple just didn't test it.

I chose every 15 minutes and have the same problem, so I don't think it's that setting in particular.

same here, App Store new purchases don't trigger a TouchID prompt, password is always required. The issue seems pretty wide spread, I guess we should expect and iOS 8.3.1 sooner than later.

Works fine for me after a reboot.  Had to put password in on initial free download and after that it has been letting me use my TouchID.  Iphone 6

Yes, it's a problem with 8.3 everything was working fine before we updated .

No. It's not. If it were a problem with 8.3, it would affect everyone. It doesn't, myself included. It's something wrong with your device. If you're unwilling to troubleshoot it, and just want to rant and whine and blame Apple for everything that goes wrong in your life, go right ahead. I don't care.

If you want to FIX your problem, then go through the basic troubleshooting steps.

I was affected by this same issue, and just now, as if magically, Touch ID purchases are now working again (fingers crossed all stays as such). I did nothing to make this happen, such as resetting, rebooting, or restoring—or even playing within settings; hence, it "magically" began working again.

The only thing I could suggest doing, which I did prior to the feature working again, is setting up iCloud Photo Library on both my MacBook Pro and iPhone. I know it seems, and almost certainly is, completely unrelated, but this is the only thing I've done differently.

It seems the bug is fickle in that it affects the feature at times, but is unobtrusive otherwise, which is likely why some (few) users are reporting no problems whatsoever.

It works perfectly now for me too. Probably was a server side issue.

And mine is back to working again too. Glad we didn't have to wait for another update.

Are you certain that you have gone to Settings>General>Restrictions>and at the bottom of the "Allowed Content" section, you have selected to "Require Password" every 15 minutes?

Because if you have it set to "Immediately", then the Touch ID will not be engaged.

I had this happen to me too. I went to the Settings-> Touch ID and Passcode and turned off iTunes & App Store. I then quit the settings app, reopened it and went back and turned iTunes and App Store back on. Everything is now working as it did before the update. Good Luck.

That doesn't make any sense Gail from Maine. Those settings aren't even provided as an option when you have TouchID enabled for the purchases.

That at being said, various people (including myself) tested by turning TouchID off and changing those settings and then turn TouchID back on. Refardless of the setting (which has nothing to do with TouchID), we were no longer being promoted for TouchID; only password if set to immediately, or nothing if set to 15 minutes.

Two other iPhone users in my house experienced the issue as well after updating to 8.3 and neither changed any settings and magically it's working again for them to. So my advice is everyone quit fiddling or doing any troubleshooting as it seems likely Apple has repaired something server side and you'll be back up and running soon.

Just a quick response. Mine is working again too.. Not sure what happened, but I do agree that something server side must have happened.  Now I need to ask for refunds for accidentally purchased apps.

OK it works now on both my iPhone and iPad ... I didn't have to do anything it suddenly worked again. The issue must have been server side, no iOS update needed.
