10.10.3 and Flashing Folder and ?

While installing 10.10.3 on my rMBP with encrypted hard drive I noticed that when the machine tried to reboot, it couldn't and a flashing folder with ? symbol appeared. The fix was was -

1. Switch the machine off by holding down the power button

2. Switch it back on while pressing command and R

3. When Utilities appear, select quit.

4. Select choose a Startup Disk.

5. Select your hard drive and unlock it with your password.

6. Reboot.

The installation will continue.

It seems more poor attention to testing again, as per the Wifi issues.

Thanks very much for posting this, I ran into the same problem on my 2012 MacBook Air when updating to 10.10.3 with an encrypted drive. Seems that QA didn't test updating with FileVault enabled! At any rate, your fix worked to locate the startup disk and resume the update, so kudos!

Wifiguru that doesn't seem to relevant to this thread but -

1. I simply upgraded from 10.10.2 to 10.10.3

2. You can see I've posted an update to Wifi performance in the Wifi Issues thread - it's fine now but cannot be used if Bluetooth is activated. I'm using an Aircard 760S broadband modem.

Glad to have helped Maxgruv.
