Q: My MacBook Pro does not appear to have power.

I have a 13" MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.3) that will not turn on regardless of what I do. With the MagSafe Power Adapter connected, its indicator light is green. When I press the battery indicator button, it indicates the battery is fully charged. The sleep light does not blink. After disconnecting the MagSafe Power Adapter, when I press the battery indicator button, it indicates the battery has no life (the first light doesn't even blink).

The electrical power outlet has power. When I use a new second MagSafe Adapter, my MacBook has the same symptoms and won't turn on.

My MacBook Pro does not have a user removal battery. I've tried all the recommended resets.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

10.6.3 is pretty old for this machine but shouldn't create this problem.

    So you did this:

    Reset SMC

    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

    If no joy then:

Try a hard reset. Disconnect the battery (take the bottom off and unplug, use your fingernail.) and power adapter. Press the power button for 1 minute. Let the computer sit for 5 minutes, Reconnect and try to start up.

No? - Go through the same procedure and try to start without the battery connected.

The addendum to this would be to try a known good battery.

Thank-you for taking the time to help. I did everything you recommended. Unfortunately for me, my machine still has no power.

However........with the bottom cover off and with a decent light, I noticed the small circuit board that the power adapter connects to (part# 820-2565-A) is a little discolored. Found and purchased a new part on Amazon for $15.98. Figured this was a very small gamble to take before taking my machine to the Apple Store.

    Thanks!

So for Snow Leopard the latest update would be 10.6.8.

" I noticed the small circuit board that the power adapter connects to (part# 820-2565-A) is a little discolored. Found and purchased a new part on Amazon for $15.98"

That would be called the DC in board.

    Which year is your MBP?

I received the DC-In Board yesterday afternoon. The link you provided to ifixit.com was very helpful. It allowed me to successfully replace my DC-In Board.

Unfortunately again, my machine exhibited the same symptoms when I plugged in the adapter.

I've read that if the battery is totally dead, that the machine would still operate with the adapter plugged in.

Looks more like its the Logic Board.

My MBP is a mid 2010 model.

    Thanks again.

Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation.  Warranty status is NOT relevant.  The technician should be able to define the problem and then you will be in a position to make informed decisions for repairing your MBP.  They may offer a repair which you may accept or reject.

    Ciao.

Have you tried resetting your PRAM?

    1. Here's how to reset your PRAM:
      1. Shut down your machine. Yes, all the way down, not sleep or logging out.
      2. Press the power button and then press command-option-p-r. ...
      3. Hold those keys down until your Mac reboots again and you here the startup chime.
      4. Let go of the keys and let your Mac reboot normally.

Have you tried a hardware test to diagnose or isolate the issue? If that doesn't work, do what OGELTHORPE recommended.

Using Apple Diagnostics - Apple Support

Yes, I have reset the PRAM. MBP is just totally dead.

    Thanks though.

Excellent!  Defining the problem is always the first step towards solving it.  Good luck.
