Apr 8, 2015 10:20 PM in response to cjPSLby spudnuty,10.6.3 is pretty old for this machine but shouldn't create this problem.
So you did this:
Reset SMC
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295
If no joy then:
Try a hard reset. Disconnect the battery (take the bottom off and unplug, use your fingernail.) and power adapter. Press the power button for 1 minute. Let the computer sit for 5 minutes, Reconnect and try to start up.
No? - Go through the same procedure and try to start without the battery connected.
The addendum to this would be to try a known good battery.

Apr 9, 2015 1:19 AM in response to spudnutyby cjPSL,Thank-you for taking the time to help. I did everything you recommended. Unfortunately for me, my machine still has no power.
However........with the bottom cover off and with a decent light, I noticed the small circuit board that the power adapter connects to (part# 820-2565-A) is a little discolored. Found and purchased a new part on Amazon for $15.98. Figured this was a very small gamble to take before taking my machine to the Apple Store.
Thanks!

Apr 9, 2015 7:06 AM in response to cjPSLby spudnuty,So for Snow Leopard the latest update would be 10.6.8.
" I noticed the small circuit board that the power adapter connects to (part# 820-2565-A) is a little discolored. Found and purchased a new part on Amazon for $15.98"
That would be called the DC in board.
Which year is your MBP?

Apr 14, 2015 4:18 AM in response to spudnutyby cjPSL,★HelpfulI received the DC-In Board yesterday afternoon. The link you provided to ifixit.com was very helpful. It allowed me to successfully replace my DC-In Board.
Unfortunately again, my machine exhibited the same symptoms when I plugged in the adapter.
I've read that if the battery is totally dead, that the machine would still operate with the adapter plugged in.
Looks more like its the Logic Board.
My MBP is a mid 2010 model.
Thanks again.

Apr 14, 2015 4:17 AM in response to cjPSLby OGELTHORPE,★HelpfulMake an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation. Warranty status is NOT relevant. The technician should be able to define the problem and then you will be in a position to make informed decisions for repairing your MBP. They may offer a repair which you may accept or reject.
Ciao.

Apr 14, 2015 3:10 AM in response to cjPSLby Explorer28,Have you tried a hardware test to diagnose or isolate the issue? If that doesn't work, do what OGELTHORPE recommended.
