When trying to install iOS 8.3 on my iPad Air 2, I get the message that I need to plug into iTunes. When plugged into iTunes it fails to restore with the message "An unknown error has occurred (56). Any suggestions?

I have the same problem w/ my iPhone 6 128GB. Error installing the update. iPhone is locked in recovery mode and unable to update or restore. Keeps giving me the unknown error 56 message. I've read that people can take out their SIM cards and put the phone in recovery mode. Then try restoring again. I've had no luck w/ this even when trying to downgrade back to iOS 8.2. Reading all the forums, sounds like only option left is to replace it. Taking it in to my Sprint store today since I don't have an Apple Store nearby
I have the same problem when my iPad Air 2. I can't seem to either update to 8.3 or restore to a previous backup
I saw the SIM trick but being this is an iPad (no cellar radio in mine), not able to try that one.
Apple swap seems like that may be what is needed, however I'm 4 hours from an Apple Store.
I have the same problem when my iPhone 6. I do not have Apple Store in my country.
Tried to update to ios 8.3 then iTunes gave a quick error message and shut down..Now my iPhone is stuck on the red logo and cable connect screen.. FOR 2 DAYS !! tried everything...This is a disgrace. a 750$ device..
I ended up contacting Apple Support. They were great. We tried and could not fix it, but they wanted my device for further investigation so I sent it in and get a new iPad in return. (my device was 6 months old).
