Q: Transferring iPod contents to New MacBook Pro

I have an iPod Classic. I was managing it from a PC, via iTunes. I lost the old computer. I bought a new MacBook Pro. I want to transfer my songs from the iPod to the new computer. The instructions seem to suggest that if I sync I will wipe out what's on my iPod and replace it with the few songs that I bought from the iTunes store. How do I transfer/sync the songs on my iPod to my MacBook Pro.
