the new iOS 8.3 - Mail Connection Issues

Since my husband and I updated to the new 8.3 our emails are not working. We get an error message that says:

Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed.

We use Yahoo, Gmail and Outlook. Tried to have a chat with apple this morning however they kept trying to tell me it was my phone...anyone else encountering this issue all the sudden??

I also had connectivity issues with all my mail accounts straight after the Update to iOS 8.3.

It said «connection failed» or something like this.

After a while I went to the WLAN setup and saw, that the DNS Servers entry was a bit strange. I took the DNS-Servers from my ISP and entered those - it works flawlessly since then.

Maybe this was only helpful in my case but perhaps it's worth a try at least?

If you don't know your ISP's DNS Servers, you can also use the free google DNS servers. They have the following addresses:

8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4

Just go to your wireless LAN setup and change the DNS server to the above mentioned addresses.

I have similar issues. On iPhone 6 and iPad air. The mail app after running a few hours does not get new mail, but no error either. Killing the app and restarting it usually works but clearly is sub-optimal. Problem is you don't know what you missed until you note it's been a while since you last got mail. I have switched to Outlook, at least for my work email and calendar.

@Apple: is this a know issue and if so when is a patch expected?

I'm having this same problem as well. I only use hotmail/outlook email and this annoying message continuously pops up on my screen with and without wifi. I did a hard reset on my phone multiple of times, deleted each email and added (total 4 email accounts) one at a time and still get this. Sprint did a refresh on my phone 3 times and still don't have a solution. Mine pop up as "Cannot get Mail" The connection to the server failed. If anyone has a solution please let me know.

I only use outlook and iCloud email accounts and they both work fine but I get the same error message also. I still receive and able to send emails no problem. It seems to be an issue with the push. I change the settings to fetch and haven't seen the error message anymore. Only issue now is the battery getting drained with constant fetch of emails. I switched back to push and just overlook the error message now since there is no real issue besides the nuisance Of the error message.

Having the same kind of issues with my iphone 5 since ios 8.3. Also on Ipad 2 since ios 8.3.

Error message sometimes when opening app, but also constantly losing connectivity to Outlook.com Push email and emails coming very late.

It's like connectivity just dies for a while and then comes alive again when it so pleases.

Being it's on 2 devices it has to be the ios update.

I've done all the typical resets, restore over and over again trying to fix this

I don't know why I bother it's getting so frustrating trying to fix this.

Apple has to fix in ios 8.4. I hope they know this problem is out there as I had a hard time finding this post.

I talked to my carrier and did a simm card swap and no improvement also.

I Can just about pinpoint the problem starting with 8.3 though was seeing the same problems on wifi before that. Maybe 8.1.

I Wish Apple would be more concerned about fixing existing problems and not be so hung up on adding new stuff.

My frustration is simple stuff like counting on my push email being fixed than music apps and apple watch etc.

if I leave iPhone it will be functional stuff that takes years for them to fix.
