Is anyone else having trouble opening a library on an NTFS disk? Photos refuses to write in that format, despite NTFS for Mac being installed and iPhoto writing to the NTFS disk without any problems.
I like to keep my library on a separate disk to the system one for safety reasons, rather than copying it manually every so often.
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)
iPhoto and Photos both need to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, exporting, saving edits and sharing the photos.

This has nothing to do with having NTFS installed, it has to do with the data structure on the disk. Recent versions of iPhoto would not allow you to create a Library on any other format. You need to move the Library off that disk.
