Q: How do i add an new email address to my inventory of send

I am trying to add my googel email address to the send & receive listing in message area of settings.  After entering my google email and my password, I see the word "verifying".

What do I need to do to get settings to accept the new email address?

    Howdy Coralnut,

It sounds as if you are having an issue with setting up your Gmail account on your iPhone for the purposes of using Messages, is that right? I would suggest that you use the steps in this article to troubleshoot -

Gmail account cannot get or send email in iOS - Apple Support

    Specifically -

    1. Make sure your device is connected to the Internet by opening Safari and visiting www.apple.com.
    2. If you have other email accounts on your device, try to send and receive email from those accounts. If your Gmail account is the only one with the issue, fill out an unlock form, which proves your identity.
    3. Remove your Gmail account from your device and add it again: Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendars > Add Account > Google. Enter your account information.

If you have 2-Step verification enabled on your Google account, you'll need to generate an App Password to use with your iOS Device.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

    Best,

I thought that iOS 8.3 was supposed to support Google's 2-Step verification & eliminate the need for an app specific password?  Lots of folks seem to be having problens setting up Gmail since the update because they are not getting a box for an app specific password but verifying doesn't seem to go through either.

I wonder if this may be part of the issue On either Google's or Apple's end?
