Q: my computer loses wifi connection using an airport extreme

I have an airport extreme and both of my computers, a macBook air and and iMac are constantly losing wifi connection.  I have upgraded the firmware as my airport utility said to do, and green light is on on the airport extreme......what else can I do to fix this problem.  The airport extreme is 3-4 years old, is that the normal life span???

AirPort Extreme 802.11n (5th Gen), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

    Hello back9artist,

After reviewing your post, it sounds like several devices are having the same issue. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

I have an Airport Express and am having this problem as well with my MacBook Pro (10.10.3) and iPad (8.3).  Before I go to the trouble of making any changes to my Airport Express settings I'm just wondering if you have any idea why this problem would crop up all of a sudden when things ran smoothly up until just a few days ago with the settings I've had since I originally set the router up.  If I unplug my Airport Express for a minute or two and plug it back in everything works just fine until my laptop or iPad sits idle for awhile.  I've never lost the connection while in the middle of roaming the web or sending an email . . . yet.

Is there someplace I should report this problem directly to Apple?
