I am having great difficulty trying to cancel a subscription that is not delivering what it is supposed to (New Yorker Mag). No one at Apple seems to know how. They refer me to the mag and the mag refers me back to apple

What options do you see for the subscription ? If it's already set not to renew you won't see a cancel option, only subscribe/resubscribe options
You already know that you are only talking to fellow users on here, and that these are user-to-user public forums - it's not a good idea to post your email address (unless you like spam email), I've asked the hosts to remove it.
Not sure what page that you went to, but this is the one that you should have gone to : View, change, or cancel your subscriptions - Apple Support
Sadly, this link leads to directions that assume there is a "cancel subscription" link. No such link appears on any of the subscriptions I need to cancel.

I have been trying to cancel my subscription for over 12 months. It's amazing how your phone won't connect to iTunes when you are attempting to cancel a subscription ! In my opinion they are nothing short of a bunch of robbers.

You'be followed the instructions that have been posted a number of times on this thread ? And if they aren't working you've contacted iTunes Support via the link that's been posted on this thread ?
