Q: photos from Photos app not showing in finder

Previously with iPhoto I could select any image from the library to use in other applications like Quark Xpress. In Quark (or any other app) I would select import, a finder window would appear, In the left bar under media it would list video,photos and music. I would select photos and it would let me choose from iPhoto library and photo booth. After upgrading to the new photos app it only allows me to select photo booth images. I can't select any photos from the new photos app images. Is there something I am missing?

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

    There have been several reports of this. The good news is that it seems to fix itself after a few hours - how few depends on the size of your Library, but it would seem there is background processing going on.

    It works for me with the applications I have tried -- Evernote, Microsoft Word (beta version), Gmail running in Safari window.

    It appears on closer inspection that if i use Pages or Keynote (to name any apple app) I CAN import images from the Photos app. But if i use Word or Quark I can't...

    I'm having the same problem, specifically with Safari. I want to post a Photo to Facebook and can't see the photos in the Finder.  Interestingly, this function DOES work with Mail.app.  It seems like the Finder aspect needs to be fixed.  Unlike other poster above, mine has not fixed itself over time.

    Are you using the newest versions of Word and Quark?

     

    I do not see Photos in the Media Browser in iWeb, for example.  In no application, that has been released before the demise of Mobile Me and never updated since then.

    Word is 2011 with the latest updates. Quark is 8.5.1.

    There should be no reason why it doesn't show on ALL applications. they are using the same finder to show directories and media files

    For me it works with most applications, but not the ones that have been installed before Lion and never upgraded. For example in iWeb I can still not use the Media Browser for Photos.

    I am also having this issue when trying to attach images to emails. This is EXTREMELY disruptive for work!

     

    Apple - TEST YOUR RELEASES MORE!!!!!

     

    Everything seems broken when you release it lately.

     

    If only windows wasn't just as bad or worse. Apple, your software used to be great, now not so much.

     

    How many hours should I wait (waste) before I book another genie appointment?

    Has anyone found a fix for this. It seems it is new photos that are just added that don't show up. I can do a restart and they will be in finder.

    I'm having the same issue. The last photo that shows up in Finder - when, say, I'm trying to post to Craigslist and add images - is from five days ago!

     

    Edit: I just restarted Safari, and the new pictures showed up in the Finder window when I tried to add the photos to a Craigslist post! This is an easy fix, though I do hope Apple fixes the bug.

    Photos is an entirely new and different app than iPhoto and is based on a different architecture. It requires extensions from the developers of 3rd party apps in order to work and integrate with Photo and Yosemite. 

     

    The developers have had access to the beta versions for some time so it's their responsibility to provide updates/extensions to their products.

    this was driving me crazy too... i could see pictures in Photos app, but when I used Safari to go to Yelp and tried to upload pictures in Yelp, they did not all appear in the finder. Some did, some didn't.  I quit Safari and tried again and there they were.

    Your comment might be useful - however the problem described above appears apparently also with Safari (at least for me), and this should be fully integrated Apple application. Rather disappointing, compared with VERY smooth introductions of architectural changes in the past...

    Are you saying you can't access any images in your Photos library with Safari and the Media browser?
