Apr 9, 2015 1:45 PM in response to René O'Deayby Tom Wolsky,IT updates a number of codecs in the system library. If you have a problem with the App Store you should try to contact them.

Apr 9, 2015 3:08 PM in response to Tom Wolskyby René O'Deay,It's not from the App Store. It's on the Apple Software Updater, and won't stop. it pops up several times a day, even with disabling the daily or even weekly reminders.

Apr 9, 2015 3:15 PM in response to René O'Deayby Tom Wolsky,Sorry. I missed you were on 10.7.5. How can you have FCPX installed on that OS? What version of FCP are you using?

Apr 11, 2015 8:14 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby René O'Deay,it was refurbished and came that way with many apps already installed inc. FCP version 10.0

Apr 11, 2015 8:26 AM in response to René O'Deayby Tom Wolsky,Refurbished by Apple and came with applications preinstalled? FCPX v10.0 and later is only on sale through the App Store.

Apr 11, 2015 8:52 AM in response to René O'Deayby Ernie Stamper,Can't speak to whether you could or could not have FCPX onboard, but I can tell you that my old Mac Pro with 10.7.5 and FCP7 is continually offered this update, despite having let the update be attempted, and there is never a failure message. I use FCPX on a new Mac Pro, btw.

Apr 11, 2015 1:02 PM in response to Tom Wolskyby René O'Deay, not by Apple. by private seller. and tho I have searched have found no indication of any Pro Video Formats within any of it, esp Final Cut Pro. except to indicate that I have updated it numerous times. but not WHERE!

Apr 11, 2015 1:20 PM in response to René O'Deayby Tom Wolsky,YYou can buy the app from a private reseller. The license is not transferable. The ProRes codecs were updated in Library/QuickTime. I can't test it but they probably don't appear in FCPX 10.0. I think you need at least a post-10.1 version to see any change.

Apr 12, 2015 8:11 AM in response to René O'Deayby Russ H,Open System Profile (System Information) by clicking on the Apple icon in the upper left and holding down the option key. In the Software category click on Installations. Scroll down to ProApps Codecs and ProVideo Codecs to see what versions are installed.
Annoyances like this are one of the downsides of having a version of the application that cannot be updated and I suspect you'll just have to accept it. Also just o let you know, were you to upgrade your OS to Mavericks and higher, that will break that version of FCP X.

Apr 12, 2015 4:46 PM in response to Russ Hby René O'Deay,(Tom )I didn't 'buy' the app, I bought the MacBook. all the apps came with it, inc. FCP.
my problem is, that it is still there, and am beginning to think it is some kind of virus, trojan or worm, cause my MacBook is running too slow, and wonky. now I have an iTune update also in line and there is no way to select just one to update now. the Pro Video Format Update has been run at least 10 times. and still can't find it anywhere.

Apr 12, 2015 5:20 PM in response to René O'Deayby Tom Wolsky,Russ described exactly where you can find if the software is updated. There is nothing else to find. There is nothing new on your computer. Existing software is updated. There is no additional software.
Slow and wonky may be due to running combinations of old OSs with newer updates.
"I bought the MacBook. all the apps came with it, inc. FCP.'
This is an illegal transaction. The software cannot be sold to you in this manner.
