Saving stereo audio from FC7 to a XDCam disk

I Am having trouble trying to make my video sound stereo when saving it to an XDCam disk. I have an XDCam first generation, 16 bit audio recorder. In FC7, my Sequence Settings, under the Audio Outputs, I have selected: Stereo Monitoring: L+R; Outputs: 4; Downmix: all at -3; Grouping: Stereo. When I playback what I have saved on the XDCam disk, it sounds as if I had selected Dual Mono. Why doesn't it sound stereo?
