Is there any type of protection for Apple products after Applecare expires?

Sometimes the retailers you buy the devices from can offer more protection. For example Best Buy or other major retailers. There may also be something your home owner's insurance could do.

I'd just suggest, even with a major retailer, read all the fine print. And even those will only go for so long.

I was amazed when I had a PowerBook stolen from my Ford Bronco - parking lot at workplace - broke the "wing" glass - and "Homeowner's" policy replaced it - Nowhere NEAR HOME! Granted, homeowner's and auto policy with Allstate, so maybe it was a 'technicality' they employed. If insurance covers 'warranty-ish' stuff, I would be further amazed.
